Criminal defense in Israel, in English
From the first police summons through trial, sentencing and appeal, we represent suspects and defendants across Israel. Many of our clients are English speakers, students and visitors meeting the Israeli system for the first time.
Police questioning
A summons to questioning under caution (chakira be’azhara) is often the moment that shapes the whole case. Call before you go. We explain your rights, prepare you for the questions, and stay available while the process runs.
Arrest and detention hearings
If you or a family member has been arrested, the first court hearing on extending detention usually happens within a day. We appear at detention hearings and argue for release or for alternatives such as house arrest and bail conditions.
Pre-indictment hearing
When the prosecution notifies a suspect that it is considering charges, the suspect can often request a hearing (shimua) before an indictment is filed. A well-prepared written submission can lead to a file being closed or to reduced charges.
Trial representation
We represent defendants in the Magistrates’ and District Courts, from reviewing the evidence and the investigation file to cross-examination and closing arguments.
Plea negotiations and sentencing
Most criminal cases are resolved through negotiation. We negotiate with the prosecution and present sentencing arguments that put the full picture of your life before the court, including alternatives to imprisonment where they apply.
Closed files and criminal records
We handle requests to close a file or to change the grounds on which it was closed, and advise on how a criminal record affects employment, travel and immigration matters.
Visitors, students and dual citizens
When an American or other English speaker is questioned or charged in Israel, family abroad needs clear information quickly. We explain every step in English and coordinate with relatives and, where relevant, with counsel in the U.S.
